Who needs a flight sim...

...when you have some of the cool new stuff they are doing with electric model R/C planes and full motion, light weight, hi-resolution video with GPS overlays and head tracking servo control. Wow.

The Fields - Easystar FPV Onboard Camera from Oliver Fietz on Vimeo.

FPV (or First Person View) R/C control is amazing. Helped out by places, such as Hobby Wireless with light weight wireless transmitters and integrated head tracking for the servo sony CCD camera control, as well as the GPS integrated heads up tracking in the video display.

There are a bunch of flight video on light weight electric R/C planes now. This almost makes some of the military's UAV planes look non-techie...grin. Check out any of a number of videos on YouTube and just search for FPV.

Anyway, I'm really thinking about jumping into some of the low end electric R/C planes with dog fighter sonic combat modules, like the Aerobird 3 from Hobby Zone.

Amazing OSD heads up display from Range Video with GPS tracking back and distance to base, speed, altitude, temp, heading, current draw, timer...

Very cool OSD with artificial horizon, etc.
